Rambling on…

I’m writing this just as Massa prematurely leaves the pitbox with the fuel hose still attached! This isn’t the first incident this year, there have been numerous other pitlane related errors, something that wouldn’t have happened when Todt, Brawn and Schumacher were around… and I suspect when a traditional lollipop was still in use.

Think of it logically, if you have one big carbon fibre board which has “STOP” and “1st GEAR”, along with the pre-requisite advertisers’ logos.. it’s quite impossible for the driver to miss it. Even if it were pulled up early by mistake, it is easy for the lollipop man to actually just drop it back down in front of the driver, thereby stopping the driver.

But if the LEDs have already indicated a go, is the driver still gonna be looking at the overhead lights? I doubt it… so Ferrari.. Suck it up.. bring back the lollipop!

It’s been revealed on Autosport that Sepang now too wants a night race and is reportedly working with the same team of people who are responsible for setting up Singapore’s lighting system.

Now, it’s known that Singapore has always tried to do a ‘one up’ on Malaysia. And generally, they’ve succeeded in outdoing Malaysia. Two most recent examples come to mind:

• The Eye on Malaysia (an obvious knockoff of the 135 metre high London Eye), a 60 metre ferris wheel has Singapore’s 150 metre Singapore Flyer to contend with.
• Then there’s the Singapore Grand Prix, which will be the first night race in Formula 1’s history.

The Singapore Grand Prix has already been dubbed as the Monaco of the East, and yet we have yet to even see F1 cars race in anger there. So, not wanting to be outdone, Sepang has also announced plans to run a night race, preferably in 2009. A case of too little, too late? Not only that… it just screams of “ME TOOO!! I WANT SOME ATTENTION!!!”

Doesn’t it remind you of something? “Ooo.. everyone has a sent a man into space, we can’t be left out! Let’s call ours an Angkasawan and let him hitch a ride with a Russian spacecraft!” Nevermind that we don’t have any program that deserves nor warrants the word ’space’ in front of it…

Sigh… When will there be some form of creative thought and initiative from our ‘higher ups’?

I recently obtained a bunch of files from a silly client all zipped up in SEPARATE files, contained within SEPARATE folders. How do you extract them? The long and laborious method would obviously be, go into each folder, one by one, and extract them, then delete the original ZIP archive file. Well, then I realised, some files in the archives were also archived!! $$#%^@#&#!*!@!

No way was I gonna waste my productive waking hours extracting files one by one. Googling got me TabDown Enterprises Unziplify! Not only does it extract archives, it also extracts archives within archives and then deletes the archives! All with two clicks from the context menu! WAHAHHA… now I can go blog.

Oh yeah.. tango.. you’ll prolly find this useful too… *hint* *hint*

• … that a group that protested recently are linked to terrorists
• … that the nation is happy and prosperous
• … that the ISA is really to protect us
• … that the street demonstrations are pointless
• … that the government is doing a good job
• … that all is well in our glorious homeland, Malaysia

YEAH.. RIGHT!

1. They are watching TV (I need to concentrate ok? Men can’t multitask as well as you women)
2. They are reading (See above)
3. They are driving (Contrary to popular belief, driving does require one to be alert)
4. They are at the edge of their seats watching an exciting sports event (Look, Formula 1 only comes once every 2 weeks.. and for only 2 hours, why pick that time?)
5. They are brushing their teeth (Do you think you will get something intelligible out of us men on any normal occasion? Don’t forget the toothbrush in my mouth)
6. They are just about to doze off to sleep /nap (Our brain is preparing to shut down, don’t wake it up!)

I was discussing this with a friend just earlier today. And my conclusion? You women are holding us to ransom. You know we want to get on with what we’re doing, so you pick the times when:

• we can’t run away (the TV is there or we’re on a highway doing 110kph or we’re stuck in a traffic jam)
• we don’t want to miss that goal / overtaking move / smash / hole-in-one, so we listen intently or at least try to
• we don’t want to continue looking silly

So, on behalf of men everywhere… QUIT DOING IT! We know what you’re doing… and we won’t stand for it! Er.. yeah!
