Photography tip: Protect your strobe with a frisbee
by david on Jul.19, 2009, under Photography
DIYPhotography.net has a great tip on how to protect a strobe on a stand / tripod. Use a frisbee! I actually had a tripod permanently disabled when my son toppled it over. This tip could probably protect your tripod as well. Hit the link for details.
The Stig Unmasked?

A forumer over at Gen[M]ay’s Photography and Imaging forum was out for a bite to eat when he chanced upon the filming of Top Gear and the STIG!
To the uninitiated, the Stig is Top Gear’s test driver. The driver who gives cars reviewed on Top Gear a faceless but thorough whacking on Top Gear’s test track.
He didn’t remove his helmet until he was driven off. They managed to get a side profile view of him. Any idea who he is?
Why do ugly people exist?

This is a great article. Here’s an excerpt:
“…you might imagine that a particular shape of the nose or turn of the chin would look drop-dead hunky on a male, but horsey on a woman; dad got to mate because his looks attracted a female, but the result of their togetherness produced daughters whose pulchritude was less than obvious.”
To summarise, turns out genes that are good for males may not be good for females. So, if you think your partner is hot and your kids are gonna look great, think again…
